Our Philosophy and Mission

Forming the Whole Person in Faith, Knowledge, and Virtue

At St. Joseph Catholic School in Enid, Oklahoma, we believe that every child is created in the image and likeness of God and is called to become the person God intends them to be. Rooted in the Gospel of Jesus Christ and guided by the pastoral vision of Archbishop Paul S. Coakley’s Vision 2030: Go Make Disciples, our school exists to form young disciples who seek truth, live virtuously, and serve others with generosity and joy.

Our work is ordered toward the formation of the “whole person—mind, body, and soul” within a community committed to truth, goodness, and beauty. Catholic education at St. Joseph Catholic School is not merely preparation for academic success, but a foundation for faithful living and lifelong discipleship.

Our Foundational Convictions

Christ at the

Center

All that we do begins and ends with Jesus Christ. We strive to cultivate a culture of encounter that draws students, families, and staff into a deeper relationship with Christ through prayer, sacramental life, and joyful witness. Christ is the measure of our teaching, our relationships, and our shared life as a school community.

Formation of the Whole Person

In collaboration with the Office of Catholic Education of the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City, St. Joseph Catholic School is committed to educating the whole child—intellectually, spiritually, morally, and socially. Academic excellence, spiritual formation, and moral integrity are inseparable in authentic Catholic education.

Missionary Discipleship

Inspired by Vision 2030, we form missionary disciples prepared to engage the world with courage, hope, and charity. Our students learn that faith is not private or passive, but lived through service, leadership, and the pursuit of truth in love.

Partnership with Families and Parish

Parents are the primary educators of their children in faith and life. In partnership with families, the parish community of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, and the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City, St. Joseph Catholic School supports parents in their sacred vocation to raise children in faith, virtue, and wisdom.

Excellence in the Catholic Tradition

Standing within the rich tradition of Catholic education, we uphold high academic standards grounded in the Catholic intellectual heritage. We seek not only to teach students what to think, but how to think—forming minds shaped by reason, illuminated by faith, and ordered toward truth.

Community and Stewardship

We foster a school community marked by respect, gratitude, and responsible stewardship of God’s gifts. Students are encouraged to serve others generously, care for creation, and recognize their responsibility to the common good.

Our Philosophy in Practice

Our philosophy is lived daily through the rhythms and expectations of school life:
  • We pray daily, celebrate the sacraments faithfully, and integrate the Catholic faith across all subject areas.
  • We cultivate a joyful, disciplined, and welcoming environment in which the dignity of every child is honored.
  • We pursue academic excellence through rigorous instruction, creativity, and critical inquiry.
  • We engage students in acts of service, leadership, and social responsibility.
  • We encourage lifelong learning, moral courage, and vocational discernment guided by the Holy Spirit.

Our Vision for Graduates

Graduates of St. Joseph Catholic School will be:
  • Faithful Disciples who know and love Jesus Christ and participate actively in the life of the Church.
  • Lifelong Learners who seek truth, think critically, and integrate faith and reason in daily life.
  • Compassionate Leaders who serve others with humility, integrity, and a commitment to justice.
